Loch Shiel is one of Scotland’s most beautiful lochs. It is associated with Bonnie Prince Charlie and the 1745 Uprising. He rallied the clans at Glenfinnan at the north end of the Loch.

Glen Orchy is often bypassed by visitors hurrying north to Fort William, or west to Oban, but is well worth exploring for its fine river scenery. The River Orchy with its waterfalls runs west to Loch Awe. The hill in this painting is Ben Inverveigh.

This location is the best known stretch of unspoilt sands in Ardnamurchan, but it is worth exploring the other ‘hidden gems’ in the area. Falls of Dochart, Killin. This autumn view of the Falls of Dochart shows the river in spate. It is one of the best known views in the southern highlands of Scotland.

A framed and ready to hang print from an original painting. Beinn a’ Chreachain - 3546ft / 1051m - together with its westerly neighbour Beinn Achaladair make a big day out. In good visibility Ben Nevis is easy to pick out on the northern horizon, beyond Rannoch Moor. On the tops here, look for dotterel stopping off on migration in spring. There are two in this picture and, like most dotterel, they are hard to spot.

This Traigh Iar, beaches of Harris, painting is from a viewpoint that you come upon unexpectedly and, if you find yourself at the same spot, you will be tempted to stop, that's for sure - even though there lots more dazzling beaches in the vicinity!

It is inaccessible by road vehicle but can be reached on foot from the east over 17 miles / 27km of rough terrain. There is a regular ferry service from Mallaig, the nearest town.
